This 1950 Grumman Mallard (N54GZ, serial J-54) represents a meticulously restored example of the iconic amphibious aircraft, with 13,558 total hours on airframe. The aircraft underwent a comprehensive restoration by Victoria Air Maintenance in BC, Canada between 2006-2010, including complete disassembly and refurbishment of all structural members, systems, and components. Notably, the wing center section was completely rebuilt with new fuel bladders under AMOC approval. The restoration addressed corrosion concerns and incorporated numerous STCs, structural modifications, and avionics upgrades while maintaining IFR capability. Power comes from twin Pratt & Whitney R-1340 engines with 683 SMOH (left) and 270 SMOH (right) hours respectively, both within their 1,400-hour TBO, paired with Hamilton Standard 3-blade propellers with 266 SPOH hours on new blades.
The aircraft features modern Garmin avionics including a G600 with synthetic vision, G3X touch, dual WAAS GPS (530/430), GTX330ES with ADS-B out, and GI275 flight instruments, complemented by a Century 2000 autopilot. The 10-seat interior showcases six corporate Cessna Caravan seats by Millennium with matching recovered original jump seats. The amphibious configuration includes Cleveland wheels/brakes and electric bilge pumps in four compartments. Finished in white with burgundy trim and gold cheat line, this Mallard presents in excellent condition with a current annual inspection completed April 2023. The restoration documentation includes modification reports and 337 forms reflecting the aircraft's current configuration.
